Burundi Shining Star University (BSSU) had the honour and privilege of receiving an evaluation mission conducted by the Commission Nationale de l’Enseignement Supérieur (CNES) on Monday, 16th March 2026. This important exercise forms part of the national framework aimed at strengthening quality assurance in higher education institutions across Burundi.

The evaluation mission was conducted to ensure universities comply with national, regional, and international academic standards. As CNES is mandated to:

•Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning processes

•Ensure compliance with academic and administrative standards

•Promote institutional accountability and continuous improvement

•Strengthen the implementation of quality assurance systems in higher education

The evaluation process was not only a regulatory requirement but also a valuable learning opportunity for BSSU. It is a great pleasure for the university to undergo such an evaluation, as it allowed administrative and academic staff to gain a deeper understanding of:

•Effective institutional governance and management practices

•Documentation and standardisation of academic procedures

•Strengthening internal quality assurance mechanisms

•Aligning institutional operations with national accreditation requirements

Through this exercise, BSSU staff benefited significantly from constructive feedback and professional guidance provided by the CNES evaluation team.

BSSU reaffirms its strong commitment to delivering quality education and continuously improving its academic and administrative systems. The recommendations provided during the evaluation will serve as a roadmap for further strengthening:

Burundi Shining Star University informs the public of the following:

All candidates wishing to pursue their studies in one of its many fields of study, admission forms and letters are available from this Monday, May 26, 2025 at Nyamutobo Campus, Ruyigi.

The university is also delighted to inform you that students will pursue their studies in the language depending on their choice, either French program or English program.

As an added advantage, all students who wish to pursue English program will be offered

free Intensive English starting on July 21, 2025.

Burundi Shining Star University hosts its first Defense Panel for Research Reports

In a historic moment for Burundi Shining Star University (BSSU), we proudly hosted our inaugural defence panel session for the first students presenting their research reports. This remarkable event took place under the esteemed leadership of the defence panel, which included distinguished academicians: Dr Emmanuel Kwizera, Dr Hatungimana Didace, Mr Kabuga Emmanuel, Mr Denis Niyongere, and Mr Bernadius Rwasa.

Seven students from the School of Business Administration and the Faculty of Social Sciences stood confidently before the panel to defend their in-depth research work. Their presentations culminated in months of dedication, critical thinking, and rigorous academic effort, demonstrating the highest standards of knowledge transformation true to our university’s motto.

This defence panel marks a significant milestone for BSSU as we continue to grow as an institution committed to academic excellence. Going forward, we are excited to announce that we will regularly host defence sessions for research proposals and internship reports, encouraging a culture of scholarly inquiry and practical engagement.
