To provide opportunities for acquisition, human development, dissemination, and preservation of knowledge and skills through training and research thus contributing to poverty reduction and sustainable development in Burundi and the East Africa.

BSSU was founded and built on the premises of the mission pentecostal church of Ruyigi.
I, Reverend Pastor Sébastien Basabose, Legal Representative of Burundi Shining Star University and Head of the Pentecostal Church of Ruyigi express my deepest gratitude to Almighty God who has allowed us to set up this University from its early conception stage to its present-day shape and stature. I would like to seize this opportunity to express my gratitude to all people who have in a way or another contributed to its edification especially the Head of State who inaugurated it on May 10th, 2021. My heartfelt gratitude also goes to all those who are daily engaged in making this vision a palpable reality. I thank God for His protection and His guidance. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless us all
