Burundi Shining Star University (BSSU) had the honour and privilege of receiving an evaluation mission conducted by the Commission Nationale de l’Enseignement Supérieur (CNES) on Monday, 16th March 2026. This important exercise forms part of the national framework aimed at strengthening quality assurance in higher education institutions across Burundi.

The evaluation mission was conducted to ensure universities comply with national, regional, and international academic standards. As CNES is mandated to:

•Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning processes

•Ensure compliance with academic and administrative standards

•Promote institutional accountability and continuous improvement

•Strengthen the implementation of quality assurance systems in higher education

The evaluation process was not only a regulatory requirement but also a valuable learning opportunity for BSSU. It is a great pleasure for the university to undergo such an evaluation, as it allowed administrative and academic staff to gain a deeper understanding of:

•Effective institutional governance and management practices

•Documentation and standardisation of academic procedures

•Strengthening internal quality assurance mechanisms

•Aligning institutional operations with national accreditation requirements

Through this exercise, BSSU staff benefited significantly from constructive feedback and professional guidance provided by the CNES evaluation team.
